Wow USA 🇺🇸

Chriss and I have been to the States a few times. I traveled to California with my sister over 20 years ago, we visited Hawaii together, California and Nevada a few times, New York and Florida.

But now we've been traveling for a few weeks in completely different states. We started in Seattle, Washington. Even though we were only there for a short time. What a cool city! We would definitely go there again. We also visited some of Chriss' relatives there. Then we drove via Idaho to Montana, and on to Yellowstone N.P., which is mostly in Wyoming. After that we went via Utah to Antelope Island. The landscape up here is just unbelievably beautiful! Wow...you could stay here longer.

Unlike in Australia, the landscape changed several times on our route... sometimes you're surrounded by trees in the mountains, then suddenly you're on high plains that remind you of a cowboy ranch, then again desert, dryness, forests etc. Simply beautiful!

The big Salt Lake near Salt Lake City is also crazy beautiful...very different from the Dead Sea...we were also well over 1800 meters above sea level.

Then Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake...here I felt like I was in our mountains...somehow at home. The absolute highlight were the black bears 🐻, which wandered through the campsite in the evening in search of food. Kind of cool, but then again less so, because bears that come into the towns too often lose respect for humans and are then shot because they attack people.

But still a highlight for us...

Mammoth Lakes is also a good 2500 m above sea level again and we liked it so much. The mountains in Switzerland are often steep and pointy. Here the valleys are also much wider and bigger...you don't have a valley feeling, but rather underestimate that you are in the mountains...

In Mammoth Lakes we made some new friends. It was cool to talk to "locals". Winter lasts almost 6 months here. They have snow from October until at least April or May. And unlike in Switzerland...they really have a lot of snow. Often the first floors are so snow-covered that you have to go in on the 1st floor...🙈.

Now we're on our way through the Sierra Nevada to Las Vegas and from there to the next national parks...

And unfortunately it won't be long now...then our big adventure will be over...
